FI Next Steps

March 4, 2016.  So I finally got it running right on the Megasquirt system.  Have to give a shout out to DIY autotune for great customer service, and to Scott aka elutionsdesign on the MSEXTRA forum for helping me with the tune.  Still more tuning to go, but it starts, runs and idles as well as it ever has, so that's a good starting place.

Moved on to beautifying the engine compartment.  It's not a show car, more of a test mule, so don't expect miracles, but here are some pictures of the engine bay as it stands.

Front and center view.  You can see the modified intake manifold with the Jeep throttle body.

Driver's side view.  Check out the deleted distributor with the modified oil pump drive from a Ranger (I think).

Passenger side view

Coil pack for the wasted spark ignition.  Yes, I need new spark plug wires.  They're coming.

First drive

And it drives.  Not well, but it drives.

ECU installation is not very sanitary.  Yet.

It Lives!

It lives!
Whew!  Getting this fuel injection system working has taken me the better part of a year.  Mostly due to the fact that the used Electromotive TECII unit I bought stopped working and that Electromotive simply wouldn't return my calls or emails so that I could send it in for diagnosis.  Eventually I bit the bullet and bought a Megasquirt II v3.57 from DIY auto tune (super helpful folks) and after a few days of careful wiring it started on the first try.  Now, to tune!
